Education secretary addresses academic recovery on Maui after wildfires

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona is on Maui Friday to address the academic recovery in K-12 schools from the 2023 wildfires.
Secretary Cardona toured King Kamehameha III Elementary, a wildfire recovery site, and participated in a roundtable with community and education leaders to discuss their wildfire response efforts.
Then he toured Lahainaluna High School and participated in a second roundtable with the Hawaii State Department of Education to discuss best practices to support academic recovery.
